A short session showcasing the self hosted web archiving tool ArchiveBox and what to consider when doing web archiving (file formats, compatibility, paywalls, credentials in archived requests, ...).
In this talk I'll present a tool that I found a while ago and that I started to like very much. As well as why independent Web Archiving is important and what to consider when doing it.
web.archive.org is great, but it isn't always able to archive everything. Nor is it a good thing to have all of ones eggs in one basket either. This talk will provide a short introduction into the web preservation topic and (hopefully) spark interest in people to start archiving the web independently.
